Ribbon cutting to dedicate pump station mural

Pump Station Mural: Southeast side and jersey barrier

KAMA | September 11, 2023

The Kalama Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate the Pump Station Mural on Tuesday, September 19, at 11 am.

The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting at the corner of N. First and Kingwood Streets at the north end of downtown Kalama, Washington, between the Columbia Inn and the Atomic Cafe.

The mural celebrates Kalama’s unique strawberry festival with a giant strawberry shortcake recipe on the south side, along with river scenes, hidden figures, and a giant dragonfly. The jersey barriers surrounding the station are decorated with hibiscus flowers and honeybees.

KAMA members painted the pump station, with permission from the City of Kalama, to give local artists an opportunity to express their art, and to give the pump station a much needed makeover.
